At its Annual Meeting last week, the Cape and Islands United Way elected new board members and
Carrie Woods was welcomed to the United Way Board of Directors for a three-year term. Woods is currently a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch, and prior to that she practiced law on the Cape for nearly 20 years. Woods served as the President of the Barnstable Bar Association for two years and served on its executive committee for more than ten. Woods has also served on the Board of Directors for the Cape Cod Community College Educational Foundation. Woods joins new board member Beverly Tilden of Falmouth. Tilden is a media and marketing consultant who joined the board in October.
Donna Morris, owner of RPM Carpets & Floor Coverings in Harwich, will continue her role as Chairman of the Board for a second term. Todd Machnik of Today Real Estate will support Morris in his second year as Vice Chair. Rick Penn of Puritan Cape Cod will hand over his long-time role of Treasurer to Larry Bigelow, retired Senior Vice President at Citizens Bank. Norma Schmidt of the Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod will take over as Clerk.
At the meeting the board recognized and honored outgoing board members for their many years of service and commitment to our community: Rick Penn of Puritan Cape Cod, Ken Pedicini of KenMark Office Systems, and Dale Ormon, of Oliver’s and Planck’s Tavern.
“We are extremely lucky to have such a committed and loyal group of people on the Board of Directors”, says chair, Donna Morris. “Each of our outgoing board members has been critical to our success — although they may be leaving the Board, they’ve made it clear that they will not be leaving our United Way family. We are in for an exciting year ahead!”
