Working in pencil, charcoal, oils and watercolor, John Belfontaine captured the movement, grace and physical strength of the performers during his 39 years of traveling with the Big Apple Circus. The Big Apple Circus was a non-profit organization whose sole purpose was to raise money for children’s hospitals. They captured the hearts of major financial backers who believed strongly in its cause. John Belfontaine and his wife Karen live in Centerville.
