To ensure that Hyannis continues as a destination that attracts residents, employers, and visitors the Town of Barnstable is developing strategies to improve the parking experience in Downtown Hyannis.
In January 2016, the Town of Barnstable hired Nelson\Nygaard http://nelsonnygaard.com/office/boston-ma/ to develop a comprehensive strategy to improve the Downtown Hyannis parking system. Solutions will seek to balance the needs of residents, businesses, and visitors as well as Hyannis’ ongoing role as a year round regional center and visitor destination.
Working with stakeholders – residents, businesses, property owners, and local and regional business and transportation organizations – the team is gathering data on parking supply and assessing the effectiveness of the existing parking system. The project outcome will be a recommended set of strategies and implementation steps. Strategies will focus on innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions that are responsive to stakeholder concerns. Changes to Hyannis parking will be successful only with community support.
Progress will be posted to the project page: http://www.townofbarnstable.us/hyannisparking/
