This year’s new year’s day polar plunge at Mill Way Beach, Barnstable Harbor will take place January 1, 2017 at 1 pm. Organizers announce that this year’s recipient of the funds raised will be Cape Wildlife.
Cape Wildlife, currently located in Cummaquid on Route 6A, recently learned that they would no longer be funded by the Humane Society of the United States. As a result, they faced unexpected, sudden closure. Supporters, including the newly formed Friends of Cape Wildlife were able to gain a temporary reprieve through the generosity of the Pegasus Foundation and the Center will remain open at least through March. The purpose of this fundraiser is to help raise funds so that Cape Wildlife can continue its important work locally.
In choosing this year’s recipient, organizers of the New Year’s Plunge, Ed and Debbie Robinson and Sue and Rich French of Barnstable Village, recognized the importance of this Center to the residents of the entire Cape.
To support the Plunge and to support Cape Wildlife at the same time, organizers will sell commemorative t-shirts at the event. Businesses and individuals can donate $100 and their name or their business name will be printed on the shirt. Donors receive a free t-shirt. The shirts will be sold at the Plunge for $20.
All checks of $100 for the sponsorship should be made payable to THE PEGASUS FOUNDATION. Please write “Cape Wildlife” on the memo line. Send to Ann Canedy, Box 23, Cummaquid, MA. 02637. Indicate exactly how you what your “line” on the t-shirt to read and indicate your t-shirt size.
