The American Red Cross would like to remind residents of the Cape, Islands and Southeast Massachusetts that time is drawing to a close to nominate someone who has made a real difference in our community.
Nominations for the 15th Annual Heroes Breakfast close December 31. The breakfast showcases how local heroes change live through selfless heroics either by saving a life or through enriching lives in our community. This event is the largest annual fundraising event for the Cape, Islands and Southeast Massachusetts chapter. More than 500 heroes, individuals, community leaders, business owners, family and friends attend the annual event.
This year Air Force Col. Virginia Doonan, commander of the 102nd Intelligence Wing at Otis Air National Guard Base, will emcee the event that recognizes the best in our local community. Col. Doonan is the first female commander of the 102nd Intelligence Wing .
Also in attendance, special guest presenter and hero Joanne Peterson will speak about the good being done by her organization, Learn to Cope Inc. She founded Learn to Cope to help families affected by opioid addiction in 2004 and now serves over 7000 people.
The event will be held April 7, 2017 at The Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis.
