April 11 – 14, 2016 weather permitting
The Town of Barnstable Department of Public Works Water Supply Division is planning the completion of a water works construction project on Main Street from Sea Street to the West End Rotary.
During this final phase of the project, the contractor will remove the temporary paving, compact and adjust the grade of the newly excavated water pipe trench. This work will be done at night to address traffic and safety concerns. During the day, the contractor will pave the trenches with a final, finish coat of asphalt. Depending on the weather, this work will take approximately three nights and three days. Traffic barrels will be placed at the work location the day before to curtail overnight parking.
One lane will be open for vehicular traffic during the project, unless the police detail officer requires otherwise due to safety concerns.
This project accomplished the replacement and upgrade of approximately 1,975 feet of water main on Main Street from Sea Street to the West End Rotary. Included in the project were the replacement of valves, fire hydrants and customer water services.
