The town of Barnstable is is located about halfway along the biceps of the Cape Cod arm. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 76.2 square miles of which 60.0 square miles of it is land and 16.2 square miles of it is water. It is bordered by Cape Cod Bay on the north, Natucket Sound on the south, Sandwich and Mashpee on the west and Yarmouth on the east. Barnstable is approximately 70 miles southeast of Boston.
