The Hyannis Public Library and the Hyannis Yacht Club invite you to a screening and conversation with filmmaker Christine Knowlton about her first feature documentary entitled Sense the Wind: Blind Sailors Race Across Open Water. This event will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 5:30 p. m. at the Hyannis Public Library and is free and open to the public.
Sense the Wind follows four blind sailors as they train and compete in national and international regattas. Nancy, Inky, Philip, and Matt — while facing personal tests such as medical challenges, marriage, and retirement — advance as sailors over several years of racing to ultimately shape the new and evolving sport, learning that on the water their disabilities are no longer the focus.
Christine Knowlton is a media producer of short films including Going Blank: Alzheimer’s Stories and numerous multimedia collaborations. Her network television work includes the HBO hit series Bored to Death. Ms. Knowlton is a member of New York Women in Film and Television, the preeminent entertainment industry association for women in New York. Sense the Wind was awarded the Humanitarian Award at the 2016 Socially Relevant Film Festival in New York.
After each library talk you are then invited to stroll over to the Town Green at 7 p. m. for the weekly free concert by the fabulous Barnstable Town Band.
