Do you know a person who has performed an extraordinary act of courage to save someone’s life or helped in the rescue of someone in need? Or maybe you know someone who commits hours to a special cause?
Each year the local Cape, Islands & Southeast MA chapter, based in Hyannis, hosts the American Red Cross Heroes Breakfast to honor local individuals and groups that have shown courage, kindness and unselfish character when a friend, family member or stranger faced a life threatening situation, or who have had an extraordinary impact on his or her community. Next year’s breakfast will take place on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis from 7:30 a.m.-9:00 a.m.
Members of the community are invited to nominate local heroes for consideration by sharing their story with us and honorees will be selected by a committee of individuals from the community. This year’s hero categories include: Lifesaving; Community Service; Individual with Disabilities; Armed Forces Hero; Professional Hero; and Youth Hero. The heroic event must be ongoing or have occurred between December 1, 2015 and December 28, 2016.
Submissions for nominations are welcome from throughout Barnstable, Bristol, Plymouth Counties and the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. Nominations must be submitted online or postmarked no later than December 28, 2016. Nomination forms and criteria are available on the Chapter website.
