The “Art on Loan” program which displays the work of local artists on the meeting room walls in Barnstable Town Hall, currently features the works of Leslie Altman. Works for this exhibit include original paintings and giclée prints.
Artwork is displayed in the Selectmen’s Conference Room and the Town Hall Hearing Room, located on the 2nd floor in Barnstable Town Hall, now through March 31, 2017.
Leslie Altman began painting at the suggestion of a friend who recommended taking a class, and she immediately fell in love with watercolor. She has now been painting for about ten years.
Leslie works in her studio and en plein air. Her work has been exhibited in local galleries, including the Cape Cod Art Association, the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, and the Chatham Creative Arts Center, as well as at the Hyarts Shanties, and can be found in homes from Maine to California. Award-winning paintings include” Bone Hill Road,” “California Coast,” “Misty Morning,” and “Ariel’s Swing.”
Leslie’s landscapes attempt to capture feeling through color and light. Her subjects include Cape Cod scenes, as well as landscapes from travel abroad and closer to home, and from still life.
